About the Cone head Zonker leech

Just another solid pattern that you can tie up in almost any color and match it with a cone head and you have a great streamer to toss at trout,bass, pike. I like this pattern for Fall Browns that have the feed bags on. This pattern is shown in one color but you can mix it up for a two tone look if you wanted.

How to tie the Cone head Zonker leech


Tying Cone head Zonker leech: Step 1
Step 1: Set up

Insert hook into cone head and set in vise.

Step 2: Start

Start your Thread and wrap back to just above the hook point

Step 3: Measure Zonker strip

Select your Zonker strip and measure out a hook length portion.

Step 4: Tie in

Part the hairs of the fur at this point and and tie in to your hook. Tip: wet your fingers when splitting the hair and it will be easier.

Step 5: Move forward

Wrap thread forward and get it as far into the cone as you can.

Step 6: Palmer

Palmer Zonker strip forward to the cone taking care no to tie in hairs as you go. Tip: Wet your fingers down as you go to help control the hairs. Give a few extra wraps into the cone overlapping to take up space inside the cone itself so there is no gap.

Step 7: Finish

Tie off with a whip finish or half hitches, cut tag end and cast away!
