Fly Tying Patterns by Patrick Hunter
Patrick Hunter
My name is Patrick Hunter, and I am from South Carolina. I have been fly fishing and fly tying for four years. I got into fly tying in college as a way to take a mental break from school, and I actually tied flies before I started fly fishing. I currently live along the South Carolina Coast, but I grew up in the foothills of North Carolina, and attended school in the South Carolina "Upstate". In college, I started fly fishing for trout in the western North and South Carolina rivers, but later started targeting largemouth, spotted, and striped bass on the lakes and tailwaters close by. I was very involved with my school's Trout Unlimited COSTA 5 Rivers program, where we taught fly tying, casting clinics, conservation techniques, and fostered in a new generation of anglers. For work, I am an Environmental Engineer in the water and wastewater industry, and my focus everyday is to build water systems that clean and keep clean my home waters. My hobby is all things outdoors, and my passion is conservation in the Carolina's. I am hoping I can highlight the unique and diverse fishery here in the Carolinas, and also provide some fly recipes that are fun to tie and fun to fish. I hope I can help this site bring along new anglers and fly tyers to grow this awesome sport!
